Hardening due to Cu-reach precipitates – dislocations interactions in bcc Fe

The interaction between dislocations and Cu-reach nanosize precipitates has been investigated by Molecular Dynamic simulations. It is shown that Cu-reach nanosize precipitates caused the significant strengthening of alloy due to locking of dislocations in metastable particles. In the same time, these particles are not evoking brittleness thru small size and good coupling with matrix. The Cu-Ni precipitates provide higher strengthening of steel in comparison with Cu ones due to intrinsic inhomogeneities and more pronounced instability of bcc-Cu-Ni particles.
